VENUE
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Rm3301
The premise of this workshop is that instructors in Language Centres in Hong Kong are highly qualified, competent language education practitioners who have much to offer the wider community if they would share their work more widely through publication. The assumption is that ‘action based on reflection’ is the inherent approach we take to classroom teaching, i.e. we are constantly asking why, modifying our practice and looking out to see if the changes we try have worked. In this workshop, we explore how to take informal inquiry to the next level, taking the form of work that can be published on a platform like STiLE.
Please come to the workshop with something to write or type on, so that you can leave with ideas to potentially pursue further. In addition to ideas, we will discuss the reality of time constraints, exploring strategies for overcoming the challenge of finding time.
While this workshop is designed primarily for instructors who are not (yet) in the habit of publishing, all are welcome.
